Nyala: Ain Alhagega
The Presidential Council of Sudan’s Peace Government on Tuesday congratulated Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on his victory in the presidential elections, describing the outcome as an important milestone for political stability and institutional consolidation in Uganda.
In a statement issued from Nyala, the President of the Presidential Council, along with his deputy and council members, extended their “sincerest congratulations and warmest wishes” to Museveni, wishing him continued success and wisdom in the performance of his national duties, and the Ugandan people further progress, stability, and prosperity.
The Council said the renewed popular mandate reflects growing political stability in Uganda and would have positive implications for economic development, security, and social peace, as well as strengthening Uganda’s role at the regional level.
It further stressed that Uganda’s political, economic, and security stability represents a fundamental pillar for the stability of the wider region, citing shared historical and geographical ties, common interests, and the complex challenges facing neighboring countries, which require close coordination and effective regional cooperation based on good neighborliness and mutual respect.
The statement also praised Uganda’s role under Museveni’s leadership in supporting regional stability, hosting Sudanese refugees, and contributing to regional and international efforts aimed at ending the war in Sudan and achieving peace. The Council said Uganda’s policies had made the country a safe haven for Africans displaced by conflict and natural disasters, upholding human dignity and African solidarity.
The Presidential Council expressed its aspiration to strengthen bilateral relations between Sudan and Uganda and elevate them toward a broader strategic partnership that serves the interests of both peoples and supports peace and sustainable development in the region.
The statement concluded with wishes for Uganda’s continued stability and success under its leadership.
